Pilot Success: Ontario River Stewards Share Their Stories
This winter, the Canadian Heritage Rivers System piloted a community of practice call, river stewards in Ontario to share their experiences, successes, and challenges. This provided a valuable platform for river stewards to discuss their rivers, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
Expanding Our Reach
Building on the success of the pilot, we are exploring ways to proceed with future calls. Options include focusing solely on Ontario, expanding regionally, or organizing thematic calls. If desired, varied themes could allow for targeted discussions that address specific interests and challenges.
Organizing Future Calls
The Ontario pilot was facilitated by the secretariat, who handled the administrative side, while the Technical Planning Committee representative for Ontario took charge of facilitation. Moving forward, we may consider a shoulder tap approach to find facilitators, ensuring a diverse range of voices and expertise. We suggest keeping the calls informal to encourage participation and ease of organization. If you are interested in organizing a community of practice call for your region, please reach out to the Canadian Heritage Rivers System for support!
Through these community of practice calls, we aim to strengthen our connections and share valuable insights, enhancing the stewardship of Heritage Rivers in Canada. We hope to see you at an upcoming meeting!
