Why Was the River Nominated?

A 487 km section of the Churchill River within Saskatchewan has been officially nominated to the Canadian Heritage Rivers System but has not yet been designated. The nomination recognizes the river’s historical significance, natural features and recreational values.

The nominated section of this 1,600 km-long river stretches from the village of Ile-à-la-Crosse to Frog Portage on Trade Lake.
