August 2 – Mattawa River, ON

Canadian Canoe Pilgrimage 2017 – ‘Paddling Together: celebrations of the Mattawa River with activities hosted by the Canadian Canoe Pilgrimage at St. Anne’s Parish and Explorer Point Park starting at 5 p.m. . People are invited to bring their own picnic. 

August 5 – Margaree River, NS

Margaree River & Lake Ainslie Heritage Committee – Displays on the history of the Margaree River at riverside community festivals: Anything that Floats Race and Festival (Coady –Tompkins Library grounds).

August 6 – Three Rivers, PEI

Three Rivers Association – Mussels and Mariners Weekend. Events include Dragon boat race, a concert at the waterfront park and canoe & kayak tour on the Brudenell River.

August 9-12 – Margaree River, NS

Margaree River & Lake Ainslie Heritage Committee – Displays on the history of the Margaree River at riverside community festivals: Margaree Highland Games, on the East Margaree parish grounds.

July

June 23- July 1 – Rideau Waterway, ON

Rideau Roundtable – The South Wind Brigade is one of four brigades that will rendezvous in Ottawa on July 1, 2017. The trip, beginning in Kingston and ending in Ottawa, covers 202 km. 

June 23 – July 1 – Athabasca River, Jasper National Park, AB

Keepers of the Athabasca –  ”Flowing into Right Relationship” with a York boat and canoe journey, arriving at the River Rats Festival on Canada Day.

July 1 – St. Marys River, ON

Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority – Voyageur brigade will paddle through the Sault Ste. Marie Canal historic recreational lock, and parade down the St. Marys River to kick off Canada Day celebrations.

Margaree River & Lake Ainslie Heritage Committee – Displays on the history of the Margaree River at riverside community festivals: Canada Day Celebrations at Coady Tompkins Library, Margaree Forks.

Rivers West Red River Corridor Inc. – Gathering of “150 canoes” on the Red River at The Forks, Winnipeg on Canada Day.

Margaree River & Lake Ainslie Heritage Committee – Displays on the history of the Margaree River at riverside community festivals: North East Margaree Firemen’s Fun Days; (Cranton Crossroads Community Centre)

Town of St. Stephen – Public paddle, concert and information displays. 

July and August –Athabasca River, Jasper National Park, AB

Jasper Yellowhead Museum – Programming will include historical walking tours of homesteads along the Athabasca River and a museum display of these homesteads.     

Weekends in July and August – Main River, NL

White Bay South Development Association – Interpretation at a traditional salmon smokehouse, and “Salmon on a Board” cooking workshops will be held on weekends throughout the summer.

Essex Region Conservation Authority – Paddling activities and learning about the cultural, natural and recreational values and the efforts being made towards Detroit River’s environmental restoration

June 12 -16 – Athabasca River, Jasper National Park, AB

Jasper Yellowhead Museum – Rafting trips for grades 3-5 on the Athabasca River in Jasper National Park.

June 12-16 – Athabasca River, Jasper National Park, AB

Jasper Yellowhead Museum – Engage and inspire youth by inviting all grade 3-5 students in Jasper to take a rafting trip with historical interpretation by the museum.

June 21 – Bonnet Plume River, YK

First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun – Public story telling and travelling exhibit

June 22-24 – Red River, MB

Rivers West – Paddle from St. Jean-Baptiste to the Forks in Winnipeg. Public paddle from St. Norbert to the Forks on the morning of June 24.

June 29 to July 9 – South Nahanni River, Nahanni National Park and Wildlife Reserve, NWT

Jasper Yellowhead Museum Athabasca River Voyageur Canoe Brigade participation, as well as presentation on the river’s history, and voyageur activities.
